New year, new chances

.. and that’s why I’ve updated the theme on this blog. I’m giving it a new chance.

I had every intention of following it up in March 2012, and was well started but then life happened - specifically that I got asked to go to Cape Town, South Africa - FOR FREE, if I might add - and I took that opportunity and two weeks later I found myself with masses of pictures from South Africa, and the ones from the Winter Holidays got lost sort of, and I didn’t want to post them all jumbled so I thought I’d wait but then I had parents who suggested I pick some pictures out to send to a national youth art contest that gave out 100 stipends (for any kind of art too - writing, theatre, music, traditional art, photography.. you name it) worth 10 000 NOK each, and I was super-busy with that as well as trying to catch up on schoolwork (aka. really just watching TV series and pretending to do productive stuff) for a while.

And then in May (I think it was May) I was one of the lucky 100 to be awarded a stipend, and by then I had made a separate photo blog and was busy with that as well, and then I sort of felt obliged to concentrate on nature-photography and then there were books to be read and..

And then exams happened, and after school I started working, and went on holiday again and bought a new camera which was really exciting and.. well.. sort of forgot about this blog that I’d made so long ago..

And now 2012 has passed, but I don’t think it’s quite too late to tell you about the places I went that year, do you? :)

My plan is that this blog will be one I can go back to when I’m older and look at all the beautiful places I’ve been so lucky as to get to visit from 2012; the year I turned 18, and into the future. If you want to follow my journeys too, then you are very welcome :)

Winter holidays in Austria & Germany

29th of February - 7th of March

So there we are! The first holiday of the year to the big land of Abroadz with all of my family. Our destination was Austria, for the Biathlon World Championships in Germany (makes sense, I know). We know a great deal of people in this village on the border, so we stayed there and drove across each day. Because of the EU there aren’t any kind of border-control between the two countries.

My mother worked as an au pair with a family in that village in her youth and still stays in touch with them and a lot of others that she got acquainted with, and they have been coming to Norway and we have been coming there more times than I can count. The first time I was in Austria I had only just learned how to walk ^^

On this blog I will be posting pictures, some written thingies and the occasional poorly edited video from travels I have been on. It may or may not be of interest to you mr. random stranger - it is mainly intended for my friends/family/acquaintance, but I would of course just find it cool if people who don’t know me find it to their liking too ^^
